Fascisme in Griekenland en Europa?!
Met de verkiezingen van Juni 2012 in Griekenland heeft de ‘Gouden Dagenraad’ – een expliciet nationaalsocialistische partij – een officiële representatie in het Griekse Parlement. Met deze parlementaire deelname van de Gouden Dagenraad voelen neo-nazi’s in Griekenland zich erg gesterkt om hun gewelddadige praktijken op straat kracht bij te zetten. Dit vaak zelfs in samenwerking met óf onder toezicht van de politie. Het aantal aanvallen tegen migranten en winkeltjes van migranten is explosief gestegen, even als de aanvallen op linkse initiatieven. Zoals we al vaker hebben gezien door de geschiedenis is het ook nu weer zo dat, in tijden van economische crisis, er een groei is in de aanhang van rechts-radicale ideologieën.
Antifascistische Patrouilles
Het aantal aanvallen op migranten stijgt nog elke week, gevoed ook door de gemengde en apathische houding van de politie die niets doen om de daders te stoppen of te straffen. Als reactie hier op hebben antifascisten een drietal motor-patrouilles gehouden. Met een 120 mensen op een tachtigtal motoren zijn zij door de wijken gegaan met propaganda tegen het racistische geweld en om directe actie te voeren om zo een veiligere situatie voor migranten op straat te realiseren.
Tijdens de derde patrouille, op zondag 30 september, is een groep neo-nazi’s gespot die een migrantenwinkel aan het vernielen waren. Er werd hierbij ingegrepen en de nazi’s werden succesvol gestopt en verjaagd. In de afloop hiervan werden echter de antifascisten al snel aangevallen een motoreenheid van de politie genaamd DELTA. Belangrijk hierbij te vermelden is dat een groot deel van de leden van deze politie-eenheid actieve en sympathiserende leden van de nationaalsocialistische organisatie Gouden Dagenraad zijn. Bij de gevechten die uitbraken zijn uiteindelijk 29 mensen gearresteerd waarvan 14 of 15 ook echt werden vastgehouden.
Repressie
Deze antifascisten zijn in de nacht daarop op het politiebureau vernederd en ernstig mishandeld/gefolterd. Mensen zijn nachten wakker gehouden en gedwongen te blijven staan met het hoofd naar de muur, structureel geslagen, medische verzorging is hen ontzegt, gedwongen uit de WC te drinken, geslagen, stroomschokken gegeven, ga zo maar door. Inmiddels zijn zij allen op borgtocht van 3000 euro per persoon vrijgelaten, een enorm en exceptioneel bedrag.
Daarbij doet zich naast de emotionele en financiële schade zich nog een derde probleem voor: de antifascisten zijn nu met naam en adres bekend bij de DELTA-politie. Hiermee lopen zij directe kans op huisbezoeken door hen, maar ook neo-nazi’s omdat deze zo nauw met elkaar verbonden zijn.
Schreeuw om solidariteit
In de media in Griekenland (en daarbuiten) is er niets tot weinig naar buiten gekomen over de gebeurtenissen rondom deze patrouilles. De publieke aandacht werd enkel afgeleid door een verhaal over de bedreiging van de ‘nationale veiligheid’ van Griekenland, in plaats van dat er antwoorden werden geëist op het vasthouden van de antifascisten, het politie-geweld en de racistische misdaden.
In solidariteit met hen, en in verzet tegen fascisme en nazisme, vinden er overal in Europa acties plaats. Iedereen moet op de hoogte worden gebracht met wat er zich buiten het beeld van de media af speelt. Politiegeweld en onderdrukking zijn in opkomst en de staat is zich op vele vlakken aan het voorbereiden op de komende sociale onrust (zie de stijging in nieuwe aankopen van materieel en de uitbreiding van wetgeving en bevoegdheden bijvoorbeeld). Migranten en die gene die hun steunen in hun strijd voor de meest basale mensenrechten, zijn de eerste slachtoffers van de repressie en het rechtse geweld.
De ontwikkelingen in Griekenland, en in het specifiek de opkomst van extreem-rechts, zijn een klassiek voorbeeld van sociale onvrede in de samenleving die getracht wordt te kanaliseren. Er wordt hierbij een verdeling gecreëerd waarin wij als werkende klasse tegen elkaar worden uitgespeeld. De sociale- en politieke crisis beïnvloeden onze levens inmiddels dagelijks en we mogen niet worden afgeleid van onze revolutionaire doelen.
Er is een roep om (internationale) solidariteit: voor emotionele, financiële steun en een breuk met de mediastilte. Hier geven wij gehoor aan! Solidariteit met de antifascisten en revolutionaire strijd in Griekenland!

Fascism in Greece and Europe?!
After the Greek elections of June 2012 the explicit national socialist party ‘Golden Dawn’ gained official representation in the Greek parliament. Trough this parliamentary participation of Golden Dawn, Greek Neo-nazi’s feel strengthened in their violent practices on the street. These violent actions are often attended by or even in collaboration with the police. The attacks on migrants and shops run by migrants have gone up explosively, just like the attacks on left-wing initiatives. As history taught us, in times of economic crisis, there is a growth of radical right-wing ideology.
Antifascist Patrols
The number of attacks on migrants is still growing every week, fed by the mixed and apathetic stance of the police who do nothing to stop or punish the offenders. In reaction to this, antifascists organized a set of three motor patrols. With 120 people on 80 motorcycles they went trough different districts with propaganda against the racist violence and took direct action to create a safer situation on the streets for migrants.
During the third patrol, on Sunday the 30th of September, a group of neo-nazi’s was spotted who at that moment were attacking a migrant-run store. The antifascists took action and successfully stopped the Nazi’s and got them out of the district. But after this confrontation the antifascists were attacked by a motorcycle unit of the police, called DELTA. An important fact to note is that a big part of the police unit are active en sympathetic members of the national socialist party Golden Dawn. After a fight broke out, 29 people got arrested of which 14 or 15 were actually detained.
Repression
On the night following the arrests the detained antifascist were severely abused and tortured. People were kept awake for nights and forced to stand up with their heads against the wall, they were structurally beaten, denied of medical care, forced to drink out of toilets, beaten, given electrical shocks and so on. Meanwhile all of the detainees are released on bail; the bail was set on 3000 euro’s, and exceptional huge amount.
Besides the emotional and financial damage there is a third issue: all the antifascist are known by name and address by the DELTA police. Due to this, they have the risk of getting house-visits by the cops, bu t also by Neo-nazi’s because the latter are closely connected with the police.
Shout out for solidarity
The Greek and international media barely spoke about the events concerning the patrols. The public attention was distracted by a buzzing story about a threat concerning the National Security of Greece, instead of demanding answers for the detaining of the antifascists, the police-violence and the racist crimes.
Actions are taking place all around Europe in solidarity with these people who fight against fascism and racism. Awareness should be raised about issues that takes place outside the scope of the media. Police violence and repression are rising and the State is preparing itself for the upcoming social unrest in different ways (for example, the rise in purchase of new defense material and the expansion of jurisdiction). Migrants and those who support them in their struggle for basic human rights are the first who fall victim State-repression and right-wing violence.
The developments in Greece, specifically the rise the far right-wing, are a classic example of canalization of the social unrest in society. Division is created whereby we, the working class, are played off against each other. We are confronted daily by the effects of the social en economic crisis but we should not be distracted of our revolutionary goals.
There is a call out for international solidarity: for emotional and financial support and an end to the media silence. Here is ours! On the topic we have organized information-evenings, have a banner drop and 500 posters are being distributed across the country.
