Lawaaidemonstratie Schiphol / Noise demonstration Schiphol

On New Year´s Eve, the 31st of December of 2014, a group of 100-120 people went to the Schiphol Detention Centre near Amsterdam in solidarity with the imprisoned people.
As every year, we protest the fact that people who flee their countries are being imprisoned. A lot can be said about the circumstances under which the detention takes place, the medical care they deprive, the endless time people are being locked up and the psychological terror that people have to suffer. But we think that it all begins with the fact that the government thinks they can and should put people in prison. This is wrong and would be something we resist and protest even under the best circumstances.
Not only is the noisedemonstration we held at Schiphol a protest, but also an act of solidarity. To let the people inside know that they aren’t forgotten and to start a new year together with them that hopefully has more for them in store than detention. That we see them as people and not as the problem the government would have us see them. Everybody has a right to a free live and that is what we strive for. For a 2015 without borders. Every prisoner free!
